Function and Design
Our Oil Separator Catch Can was
designed by automotive enthusiasts for those who expect a higher
standard of performance from their vehicle and wish to help extend the
life of their engine by decreasing
oil contamination from the intake tract to the combustion chamber. Months of
research and testing has
provided HMS with a unique and functional kit that has worked flawlessly on the
Ford Mustang as well as
many other vehicle makes and models......supercharged, turbocharged and n/a!
All Catch Cans are the same?

The internal design of our oil separator can is Far superior in function to other
so called catch cans on the
market. Oil vapors and other contaminates
are first caught and condensed by a stainless steel mesh. This
separates the oil droplets from the true crankcase blowby! This allows the oil
to drop to the
bottom of the can
where a series
of under-cuts in the walls prevent the oil from climbing back to the top and
exiting back
into the intake tract. This design allows only "clean" air to enter the
intake tract! The other "so called" cans
with two ports attached Can't do that! This design works with Supercharged,
Turbocharged and N/A engines!
Works on Fords, Chevys, Audi, Dodge and many more!
Catch Can Benefits
Oil contamination derives from the
positive crankcase ventilation valve ( low pressure/high vacuum for positive
displacement blowers) common on most internal combustion engines where
vacuum is pulled on the crankcase
by the intake. This contamination occurs when oil vapors exit the
crankcase via the PCV valve /vent hose, enter
the intake tract, and create adverse effects such as carbon build-up on valves,
pistons, and plugs, as well as
cause harmful detonation. Detonation in many cases causes the ECM/PCM to retard
timing, thus creating a
reduction in horsepower. Power adders such as turbos, blowers, or nitrous can
benefit greatly due to the
removal of oil contamination in the combustion process. Oil degrades the octane
of fuel!
Here are some example pictures of
the intake tract / intercooler on our 2007 Saleen supercharged Mustang.

As you can see, there is a large amount of oil saturating the intercooler and
s/c housing.
This is only after 5000 miles of use! The 4th pic (right) is after we cleaned the
s/c housing,
then
removed oil "as much as we could" from the rear intake tract of the screw
rotors.

Quality Construction
HMS's oil separator can, lid and
mounting bracket are made from 6061 billet aluminum and machined cut on
CNC machines producing a precise product with a professional appearance.
The o-ringed lid contains the internal
stainless steel mesh, which can be removed for cleaning. Dimensions of the can are
2 1/2-inch in diameter by
5 3/4-inch tall. This allows plenty of oil capacity and installations in
tight spaces. Mounting hardware is included-
mounting bracket, two 3/8 fittings, 5.5 ft of 3/8 hose and clamps.
Installation takes on average 15 to 20 minutes
with minimal mechanical knowledge
and common household tools.
The catch can is available in
a universal vehicle kit (above hardware included) or
2005-09 Saleen supercharger kits.
The saleen kit is designed to mount to the factory lower air box housing
and use the factory valve cover / blower intake
connectors. We modify a new factory driver's side pcv hose (which has the Ford
o-ringed connectors)
to connect
to the
valve
cover and supercharger and oil separator! This gives a factory looking
